A local dentist Nick Cheatle of King Street Dental Surgery and his friend Simon Gregory have agreed to complete a staggering 28.8K (18miles approx.) swim in the Lake District.

It will take place over 4 events and raise funds for the Swallows HPV Vaccination campaign. They have set a target of £5,000 to help raise awareness ‘Get all our Boys vaccinated against the HPV Virus’

Nick says ‘As a dentist I know the importance of Oral Cancer and find it staggering that Mouth Cancer kills one person every 3 hours and that here in Lancashire we have higher than normal referral rates of the virus HPV and as such I am really pleased to be associated with the great work the Swallows do in their Awareness campaign to get all boys vaccinated against the HPV virus’

‘The Swallows are running a campaign to ensure everyone is aware of the importance to seek medical advice about getting there boys vaccinated against the HPV Campaign, we understand that the cost could be an issue at £140 per injection and you need three! That’s why we are lobbying local and national government figures to get this available on the NHS especially as the Government cost would be as little as £15 per injection.’ Said Chris Curtis, Chairman
