A Somerton based dental practice is to extend its opening hours and launch a range of new services, after being bought in a deal backed by Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

With more than 20 years working both in the UK and overseas, dentist Amanda Gorman bought Advanced Dental Practice because she wanted to open her own practice in the South West.

She now plans to significantly expand the services on offer at the practice, extending the opening hours to include late night and Saturday mornings, and providing the opportunity for patients to receive treatment for more complex issues on site.

Amanda said: “Owning my own business has always been a dream and, having spent a number of years working as a dentist and a dental lecturer, I feel I can create a practice that offers a high level of specialist care to patients.

“Advanced Dental already has a well-respected reputation, but I intend to expand the services on offer significantly over the next few years to make treatment more accessible for members of the local community.

“As the business expands we will also be creating a number of new positions at the surgery, including hiring an apprentice dental nurse and a practice manager.”

In order to gain the funding needed to purchase the business Amanda approached Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, which provided the loan.

Amanda added: “The support I received from Lloyds Bank throughout the acquisition process has been exceptional. Buying a business can be difficult, but my healthcare relationship manager really understood the sector and gave me the tailored guidance needed when facing complex issues.”

Clive Rowe, healthcare banking consultant at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “When Amanda approached me with plans for the surgery I was immediately impressed by her patient focused business plan and wide range of experience.

“Accessible dental care continues to be an issue across the UK, and expanding the services on offer at the surgery will not only help the business to expand, but benefit members of the local community.

“At Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking we are dedicated to supporting businesses like Advanced Dental and have a team of specialist healthcare relationship managers who can provide the tailored funding and support needed to help them achieve their ambitions.”
