Dentists who want to tackle more challenging implant cases can learn advanced surgical techniques on a range of courses in 2014.

Programmes to help clinicians move on to the next level are available at centres around the UK, supported by DENTSPLY Implants.  Training is designed to provide delegates with the skills to carry out advanced implant procedures with long-term success. Further details are available on the dental implantology education website www.courses4implants.com.

Advanced courses within the DENTSPLY Implants programme are taught via a mix of live surgery, practical demonstrations, lectures and hands-on workshops. The content enables delegates to develop their skills and expand the range of implant treatment they can offer to their patients.  Course attendee Mike Coleman, of Coleman and Starkey in Trowbridge, says, “Implants have since become a more routine part of treatment planning in my practice.”  Alan McCarthy, of Market View Dental Practice in Sherborne, adds, “I came away from the course enriched and keen to move on to the next level.”

There are intensive courses which cover a comprehensive range of advanced techniques, designed to increase clinical experience.  Training is also available in specific areas of surgery, such as bone grafting and immediate implant placement, to enable practitioners to introduce these techniques in their treatment planning.  Matthew Whittingham, of Fogg and Whittingham Surgery in Manchester, explains, “The course provided me with the knowledge to carry out ridge expansions on my own patients, which has been of great benefit to my practice.” Anthony Cooper, of Dental Solutions in Newcastle, adds, “I have been able to apply the experience routinely on my own cases.”
