Auction for signed bat

Guests at ‘The Slumdog Secret Millionaire Charity Dinner’ being held at the end of this month are looking forward to the charity auction which will be the focal point of the evening. Anticipation of this event has been further heightened by the news that one of the lots going under the hammer will be a cricket bat signed by legendary Indian batsmen Sachin Tendulkar.

The dinner is the brainchild of Seema Sharma, who, inspired by her appearance on Channel Four’s Slumdog secret millionaire, returned to the UK determined to continue to help those she had met during the filming of the programme. The result of her life-changing experience was the foundation of a new charity, The Sharma Foundation, aimed at providing on-going funding to the three projects she choose to help at the end of the programme.

The dinner, which is supported by Henry Schein Minerva, takes place on June 30, 2010, at Café Spice Namaste in London, and features a three-course dinner created by award winning chef Cyrus Todiwala, the dinner will be followed by the auction and entertainment provided by comedian and star of last year’s Edinburgh Festival, Paul Sinha.
