The managing director of dental IT solutions provider Microminder has run the Mumbai half marathon to raise funds for international dental charity Dentaid.

Bharat Sheth joined 43,600 runners in the event on January 22 and raised £1,800 along the way. After a 5.40am start to beat the intense heat, Bharat, 57, completed the race in just over three hours.

Bharat said, “It was tough going because the temperature was rising all the time but it was a great event to be part of with an exciting atmosphere and most people were running for charity. I have done a half marathon in London before but this time my training included running along the beach which was good preparation for the half marathon as the route took us along the coast and into the city. ”

Bharat was fundraising for Dentaid’s mobile dental unit which will visit homeless shelters, day centres and schools to provide dental treatment for vulnerable people who find it difficult to access dental care and oral health education for children.

“We are very grateful that Bharat chose to fundraise for Dentaid,” said the charity’s strategic director Andy Evans. “His support will help us to reach homeless and vulnerable people in the UK who really need dental care and oral health advice but find it difficult to access treatment for a wide variety of reasons.”
