The British Lingual Orthodontic Society (BLOS) is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Chair: Ian Hutchinson, Specialist Orthodontist and Clinical Director at Wired Orthodontic Laboratory and Chief of Orthodontics for DoooX – an online learning platform. Already a long standing committee member, Ian succeeds Specialist Orthodontist Paul Ward, who officially handed over the BLOS reins earlier this month.

Ian commented: “It gives me great pride to accept the position of Chairman of BLOS. Ever since joining the BLOS committee back in 2006, I have remained passionate about lingual orthodontics, and I look forward to the challenge of following in Paul's footsteps and helping to make BLOS one of the leading global societies of lingual orthodontics.”

The BLOS committee has gone from strength to strength in recent years, as lingual orthodontics gains momentum as a result of growing demand for discreet orthodontic solutions. Membership numbers are rising year on year, and the committee is excited to be attracting an increasing percentage of overseas members.

During his time as Chair, Paul has helped to establish the BLOS committee’s excellent reputation for running high quality ‘must-attend’ events for lingual orthodontists. A reputation the team hopes to build on in 2015, with planning for a series of regional study groups and a lingual master class at the World Federation of Orthodontics meeting already underway.

Paul, who acted as Chair of BLOS for four years, commented: “I am delighted that Ian will be taking over as Chair. New leadership brings with it new enthusiasm and ideas, and I have no doubt that Ian will do a fantastic job.”

With many exciting projects in the pipeline, including a revamped website, additional membership categories and new member benefits, 2015 promises to be an exciting year for BLOS and lingual orthodontics.
