BUPA announces a string of dental acquisitions

30 July 2018

Bupa has announced the acquisition of nine new practices bringing the total number of sites acquired this year to fourteen.

Bupa’s growth in the dental market has continued at pace, as it announced the acquisition of nine further practices.  The news means that Bupa has acquired 14 practices in the UK and Republic of Ireland so far in 2018.

Stretching from Southampton to Northern Ireland, the latest acquisitions are key to Bupa’s strategy to provide high quality dental care to customers in the UK and Ireland. In 2017, Bupa acquired Oasis dental care, and now operates over 470 dental practices across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

The recent announcements include Morrison Shenfine Holdings, which owns four practices across the North of England. Other practices include MyDental in Ballsbridge, Dublin, Dental Excellence in Harewood, Leeds, Dental Confidence in Southampton, Martin Dental Care in Shawlands, Glasgow and Lodwig Villa Dental Practice in Bangor.

Commenting on the news Catherine Barton, general manager for Bupa Dental Care, said, “With steady forecast growth, we’re confident in the long-term success of the dental market. As such we’re keen to expand our network so that we can offer quality care to even more customers, and so I’m delighted to welcome these new practices.

“As part of the Bupa family they’ll be able to broaden their referral network, and also benefit from a range of support functions, such as clinical governance and support, marketing, HR and IT. With these benefits, we’re confident that the practices will be able to grow, whilst maintaining their commitment to top quality patient care.”

Iain Morrison, dentist and managing director for Morrison Shenfine Holdings, added, “I’m looking forward to the opportunities we’ll have to continue to grow professionally as part of the Bupa group. With an established brand behind us, we can build upon our success to date, while maintaining our commitment to providing the best care for our patients.”

Bupa continues to grow its dental presence, with a focus on mixed and private practices providing a high standard of patient care. In November 2017 it announced the acquisition of Avsan Holdings with 16 practices across Scotland and England, while in December it purchased Metrodental, adding two premium practices in the City of London.
