The Mouth Cancer Foundation are pleased to announce that they will attend The Dentistry Show which is held from Friday 17, April, to Saturday 18, April, 2015, at the NEC, Birmingham.

The Mouth Cancer Foundation will be present at stand L87 to give delegates latest information about its work and the award-winning Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme.

With mouth cancer on the rise, the charity is committed to spreading messages about the disease, its warning signs and symptoms. Through its Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme it is successfully raising awareness amongst both patients and dental practices by calling for every practice in the UK to carry out a thorough head and neck cancer examination as part of regular check-ups.

Dentists have a key role in early detection of mouth cancer, and in the prevention of the disease, by identifying those patients that are exposed to risk factors. In the UK nearly 8,000 people are diagnosed with mouth cancer every year and it is estimated that 60,000 will be diagnosed over the next decade.

The Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme is a ‘Two minutes to save a life’ screening protocol that every dentist should be able to include in their routine examination. Full membership includes access to a dedicated section of the charity’s website, a free one hour CPD element and a wealth of professional development and training modules suitable for all members of the practice team to ensure regular screening benefits practice patients.
