Six Month Smiles is a short-term orthodontic system. Six Month Smiles is focused on partnering with general dentists so we can help them implement the Six Month Smiles system in their practices. After initial clinical training, we work with our providers to help ensure they can provide great patient care and the systemized process makes this care relatively easy to implement. The clinical training is the starting point and beyond this we provide marketing support, case setup and case support for Six Month Smiles providers. Short-term orthodontics is a very patient friendly procedure and we make it dentist friendly by systemizing the process. The system can be learned quickly and startup costs are minimal.
Short-term orthodontics is the clinical procedure the Six Month Smiles system is based on. It is adult oriented orthodontic treatment focused on giving adults a great looking smile in an average of just six months. Most people who have crooked teeth think they are stuck with no realistic solutions. The Six Month Smiles System involves specific tooth coloured brackets and wires and the overarching treatment goals involve correcting the patient's chief cosmetic complaints. This change in the focus of treatment is what allows clinicians to provide a dramatic result in only six months. The aim is not to completely revamp the occlusion. We are conservatively and gently aligning the teeth so our patients can smile with pride and we are simultaneously improving certain aspects of the occlusion. It's a fantastic and minimally invasive system that allows dentists to treat a large group of patients in their practices that currently are not being catered to. It also allows dentists to set up their restorative cases and porcelain veneer cases in a manner that makes them more controlled and much more conservative.
The Six Month Smiles system is streamlined and turnkey. In our two day seminars, we ensure dentists leave with the knowledge they need in order to start cases the following week.
This knowledge includes: good case selection, focused treatment planning, mechanics of tooth movement, excellent patient communication and technical skill via hands-on training. We also provide case support for our providers. As a clinical instructor, I'm very involved in this process and the support is dentist to dentist.
Six Month Smiles involves a focused treatment philosophy which includes selecting the right patients. Many adults are good candidates for Six Month Smiles but others are appropriately referred for traditional orthodontics. Since the patients who are typically treated with Six Month Smiles are those who refuse traditional braces, there is not a tug of war over these patients between general dentists and orthodontists. When the procedure is provided for the appropriate patients, everyone wins.

The demand we see from dentists is incredibly high right now because Six Month Smiles helps dentists add a new profit centre after two days of training. Furthermore, the startup costs are negligible. The seminar and tools costs can be recovered with the first couple of cases a dentist treats, depending on the fee charged.
I enjoy providing Six Month Smiles so much I started a Six Month Smiles focused practice in 2007. I do many other cosmetic procedures including whitening, bonding and veneers but more than 40 per cent of my production comes from Six Month Smiles treatment.
