Dean of FGDP[UK] goes live on Facebook to announce new UK guidelines for a safe return to dental practice

01 June 2020

The FGDP(UK) and newly formed College of General Dentistry today launched new COVID-19 guidelines for a safe return to work for dental practices.

The guidelines are based on a review of the evidence by an expert task force to guide dentists and their teams in delivering safe dental practice during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Dean of FGDP[UK], Ian Mills, used social media to speak to the profession and went live on Facebook this morning (Monday 1 June) to announce the new UK guidelines.

Practices in England were last week given the green light by the government to return to practice next Monday (8 June).

The UK-wide task force panel includes 30 senior members of a number of organisations, including the British Dental Association, the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Association of Dental Groups, the Association of Dental Implantology and the newly formed British Association of Private Dentistry and has received support and input from groups across the profession, including the British Society of Dental Hygiene & Therapy and the British Association of Dental Nurses.
