A recent survey has revealed that 92 per cent of dental professionals were interested in specialist training for their practice’s decontamination lead.

This evidence sparked recognition of the need for training opportunities, not only for decontamination leads, but also for the whole dental team. Dentisan has responded by building a new training facility at their headquarters in Derby where they will be running decontamination courses that enable dental professionals to gain the recommended minimum of five hours CPD in the core area of disinfection and decontamination.

The one-day course will compromise a mix of both classroom and practical sessions and the course content will cover all aspects of decontamination as required by relevant UK guidance including HTM01-05 and SDCEP.

The training facility features a fully equipped dental surgery and decontamination room, in which delegates will be able to put into practice the theory they have learned in the classroom.  The practical sessions will include the topics of surface decontamination, testing and validation of autoclaves and washer disinfectors as well as decontamination protocols for dental unit water lines.

These education courses simply help practices fully comply with the complexities of HTM01-05.
