Dentist struck off

The allegations against Jagdev Singh Wasu (Registration No. 82781) were heard by the GDC’s Professional Conduct Committee and were in connection with incidents that happened between 2008 and 2011 at surgeries in Surbiton, and in Southampton.

Among the charges he faced were:

• Failure to make any, or adequate, records of appointments, medical histories, diagnoses prior to carrying out treatment, details of clinical treatment carried out on some patients, discussions of treatment options;
• Failure to gain informed consent from one patient;
• Forging, or causing to be forged, a patient’s signature;
• Making retrospective entries in at least two patients’ records.

In making its decision the Committee noted that:

"Mr Wasu’s misconduct was not an isolated error. It occurred over a considerable period of time and involved a number of patients. It included many failures in record keeping, clinical care and a number of examples of dishonesty, of which the most striking was the forging of a patient’s signature so as to undermine her complaint. This is extremely serious misconduct."
