Going the extra mile

In late May/early June, after some rigorous training and lots of planning, Ian Eslick, Business Development Manager at DPAS Dental Plans, is proud to have completed the first stage of his sponsored Cornish Coast Path Walk Challenge, all in aid of the children’s charity Wooden Spoon.

Looking to fulfil a lifetime personal challenge of walking the full length of the Cornish coastline, Ian’s mission was to first walk some 158 miles over a two week period from Welcome Mouth (Marsland Mouth) to Land’s End, following the stunning North Cornish Coastal Path. With sponsorship and great support from family and from friends throughout the dental community, Ian’s efforts have so far raised over £5,600, way ahead of his original target of £1,000.

Wooden Spoon is a leading grant-making charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged and disabled children and young people through rugby. They are one of the country's largest funders of respite and medical treatment centres, sensory rooms, specialist playgrounds, sports activity areas and community based programmes in the UK.

Ian wants to send his heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported him in this venture, both those who walked with him and especially those who sponsored him so generously. He is already planning the second stage walking from Plymouth to Land’s End in 2016/17.
