It’ll be all white on the night

Using the chairside light-activated system at a top secret location, the contestants’ teeth were whitened by Philips Zoom up to six shades in an hour, by Jeremy Hill and his colleagues from the Ware Centre of Dental Excellence, in Hertfordshire.

To ensure their celebrity smiles go the distance, the contenders were also each given a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. This will not only help maintain their whiter smile but also ensure their teeth and gums are in tip top condition throughout the show.

Footage of the session, including close ups of the Zoom lamp, will be shown on The Xtra Factor on ITV2 this weekend, potentially prompting an increase in whitening requests from patients.
