A look ahead to the BACD Annual Conference.

Peter Nutkins, product specialist from Prestige Dental, returns to the BACD Conference this year to present his hands-on session ‘Model Making and Vacuum Forming Made Easy’. He explains:
"Accurate study and working models are essential for diagnosis and treatment planning, yet model making in the practice can be time consuming, take up valuable space and often be messy, too.
"Inaccurate models lead to discrepancies which obviously affect the final outcome. At this year’s BACD Annual Conference I’m going to demonstrate a practical time and space saving system which is clean and can be easily incorporated into the normal practice routine. Beginning with a presentation on what can go wrong when taking impressions, I’ll be giving tips and tricks for making models that are ready for use and set to working hardness in just 10 minutes. The models will then be used to produce things like whitening trays, retainers and mouth guards, utilising the Prestige Dental Vacuum Forming Machine."
There is much talk in the industry these days about the need to diversify and extend the scope of your practice. This is why Peter's course is particularly appropriate for the whole dental team, including technicians as well as GDPs.
"My session will enable delegates to leave with knowledge that will allow practices to introduce the production of many appliances
in just a single appointment, thus saving valuable chair time and multiple patient visits."
The course, Model Making and Vacuum Forming Made Easy, is part of a packed programme offered by the BACD this year, with sessions on photography, scheduling protocols and CAD/CAM for prosthetics to name but a few. Speakers include well-known figures such as Tif Qureshi, Christian Coachman and David Bloom and the gala dinner will be just one of the many opportunities you will have to network with colleagues from all over the world.
The more achievable new techniques are, the more easily they can be incorporated into practice. By presenting fresh ideas in an accessible format, the BACD event will give attendees the confidence to elevate their dentistry.
