Leicestershire practice expands to meet patient demand

The Charnwood Borough Council has granted Park Dental Care in the village of Mountsorrel permission to expand and create two new surgery rooms.

The plans will mean that the practice will seek to employ additional staff, including a new dentist, dental nurse, and receptionist.

The practice has over 6,000 active patients and hopes its plans will reduce wait times.

The building’s top floor is currently a two-bedroom flat. The practice plans to convert two of the rooms into new surgeries and turn the kitchen into a staff room. Part of the flat will also be used to create an office space.

According to Leicester Live, the planning application reads, “With only two operating surgery rooms, Park Dental Care is operating a waiting time of six to eight weeks for new patients to be seen. The proposed change of use to 10A the Green and link to the dental practice is aimed to provide additional surgery rooms to reduce the current long waiting times for patients. There are not many dental practices in this region and therefore most of their patients are from Mountsorrel and surrounding villages within five to 10 miles radius to the practice.”
