Live webinar on gum disease prevention

02 November 2015
Volume 31 · Issue 6

On November 9, four leading periodontists, all senior members of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), will be hosting a live webinar about the prevention of gum disease. It will take place at 14.30 UK time and 15.30 CET.

Presenting from a TV studio in Madrid will be the four chairmen of the working groups from the EFP’s Perio Prevention Workshop: Iain Chapple, Søren Jepsen, Mariano Sanz and Maurizio Tonetti. The focus of the workshop was the prevention of periodontal and peri-implant diseases. Over 75 expert participants worked in four groups systematically reviewing the research literature, raising and answering questions, debating controversial issues and eventually arriving at a consensus and producing contemporary guidelines for professionals and patients.

The participants of the webinar will be debating the outcomes of this workshop and launching the new, official perio prevention guidelines. They will also be talking about the ways in which professionals can encourage positive lifestyle changes in patients.

Access to the webinar is free of charge and open to anyone interested in the prevention of gum disease across Europe – including hygienists, dental students, other health professionals and interested journalists. The EFP has a website dedicated to the subject of periodontitis prevention where you can find out more and also register for the webinar: prevention.efp.org. The webinar is being broadcast in the UK, Italy, Germany and Spain, with plans to show it in Holland and France soon.

The EFP holds a strategic workshop every year - bringing together the highest level of world leading periodontal specialists. Its next gathering will take place in Madrid during November this year on the subject of effective global communications.
