Mental health support introduced by dental group

02 June 2025

Mental health support is set to be made available across 12 dental practices over the coming weeks as part of a new collaboration.

The partnership between mental health platform TriggerHub and UK dental group Obex will provide comprehensive mental health support for all its staff and patients. It marks the first time a UK dental practice has embedded mental health care into its core services.

The pressures of clinical work, patient care, and business operations have led to rising stress levels among dentists and the dental team, with studies showing they are at risk of burnout, anxiety, and depression. By integrating TriggerHub’s digital mental health platform, Obex has said it is supporting its clinicians, dental team, and patients.

Sab Bhandal, founder of Obex, said, “At Obex Dental, we believe dentistry holds a unique place within healthcare: we see our patients regularly - even when they’re well. This gives us a powerful opportunity to prioritise prevention and support overall wellbeing.

“We’ve invested in our teams to deliver a prevention-focused oral healthcare journey, and now we’re extending this commitment to other key areas of health, including diabetes prevention, hypertension management, and mental health wellbeing.

“We’re proud to partner with TriggerHub to bring meaningful mental health support to both our patients and our team members. Through this partnership, every member of the Obex team - and every patient, whether NHS or private - will have direct access to digital mental health resources tailored to their individual needs.”

A range of resources

TriggerHub blends storytelling with science-backed resources to support people wherever they are on their mental health journey. Featuring real-life experiences and offering clinically-informed tools and strategies, the platform creates a safe, private space for individuals to better understand their emotions, reduce stigma, and build the confidence to seek help sooner. The mental health tool empowers patients and professionals to take proactive steps toward mental wellbeing - making mental health support more accessible, relatable, and effective.

Adam Shaw, founder of TriggerHub, said, “Dentistry is facing a silent crisis and we cannot ignore it any longer. Through this partnership with Obex, we are demonstrating how technology can redefine patient care creating a model that not only improves mental health outcomes but also enhances the overall patient, clinician, and dental team experience and wellbeing. Our goal is to scale this initiative across the UK and beyond, ensuring that no one in the dental profession struggles alone.”
