BOS delighted to annouce the appointment of two new directors to its Board of Trustees.

Specialist orthodontist Guy Deeming has joined the BOS Board of Trustees as Director of Clinical Practice and Professor Philip Benson as Director of Research.

Guy’s remit is the clinical practice of orthodontics across all settings, primarily within the NHS. With the imminent round of re-procurement for orthodontic contracts, the coming year is a critical one. Practice-owning members of the British Orthodontic Society may have to re-tender for their orthodontic contracts while other members may want to tender for a contract for the first time. Both groups will be looking to BOS for support.

Guy will be expected to take the lead in both advising and supporting members as well as meeting with other stakeholders including NHS England, the BDA and the Office of the CDO.

He said: “There is no doubt that uncertainty over the future of orthodontic contracts is the most significant cause of anxiety amongst the orthodontic community. Specifically, the impact on patients should the process not be well managed and delivered is potentially great. The BOS will continue to negotiate and represent on behalf of members trying to deliver the very best for their patients.”
