A leading dental health organisation, the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT), has unveiled its new website which makes it easier for the public to find a member in their area.

Patients are now able to search from BSDHT members practising near them through the ‘Find a Dental Hygienist/Therapist’ feature which is central the new website.

Speaking on the launch of the website Michaela ONeill, president of the BSDHT, said: “We wanted to give our members a boost by making it much easier for patients to find and access them and hopefully bring dental professionals and the public closer together.

“Members simply need to fill in the details of their practice on the website; this will enable patients to quickly see what services are available in their local area.

“We work tirelessly to promote the interests of our members and feel this is a great way for them to promote their practise and reach potential new customers.

“This is a brand new feature, the like of which has not been available to dental professionals before, and one which we are encouraging everyone to get involved with. By becoming part of the BSDHT members have an incredible opportunity to grow their public presence and boost their patient lists.

“One of the biggest issues effecting oral health in the UK today is the ability for the public to access services; by giving our website a patient centric approach we hope to address this and make people more comfortable about visiting their dental team.”

The BSDHT is one of the UK's largest professional bodies for practising dental hygienists, those dually qualified in dental hygiene and therapy, and students of the profession.

“The new website offers many other benefits to members including access to the latest goings on in dentistry through our improved news section as well as our live twitter feed,” added Michaela.

“There is also lots of information about the upcoming Oral Health Conference and Exhibition (OHC) taking place in Belfast later this year; including important information on registration, accommodation, travel and information on how to get involved.

“The OHC is a rare opportunity to hear talks from, and speak to, the opinion leaders in dental hygiene and therapy profession.

“Participation in the Oral Health Conference 2016 will be a key step for your company in fostering mutually beneficial relationships with the UK’s dental hygiene & therapy community.”
