Refurbishment completed

After nearly two years in the planning the work to refurbish the Department of Child Dental Health at the Manchester University Dental Hospital has recently been completed.

Opening at the end of May, the refurbishment has included the installation of 11 Takara Belmont treatment centres. After an extensive market review the department’s lead consultants felt two models were perfect for their needs; the Cleo II and the Voyager IIL.

With tight space requirements, the Cleo II came top of their list with its small footprint allowing space to be maximised in the open clinic. The knee-break chair provides easy access for younger patients and facilitates consultations with the child and their family, a large and critical part of the department’s work. The Voyager IIL was also selected to provide ambidextrous functionality for the department’s left handed surgeons.

Peter Underwood from The Dental Directory who managed the installation believes the thinking behind these choices is clear; ‘Both treatment centres offer exactly the high quality, functionality and reliability the department was looking for whilst satisfying demanding health and safety requirements. There are no small gaps for children’s fingers, an essential requirement in a paediatric unit.’
