Roz McMullan has been re-elected as chair of Northern Ireland Council. Roz previously served as NI Council chair from 2015-2017.

She has been elected as a representative member from the BDA’s Northern Irish branch, and previously practised as a consultant orthodontist in the Western Health and Social Care Trust. As part of her role as chair she sits as a non-voting member on the Northern Ireland Dental Practice and Salaried Dentists Committees.

Richard Graham was elected as vice chair of Northern Ireland Council. Richard is a GDP and has worked in general dental practice for over 30 years. A long-standing member of NI Council and NI Dental Practice Committee, he has extensive experience representing the profession.

Accepting the position, Roz McMullan said, “I am honoured and delighted to be re-elected to the position of Northern Ireland Council chair.

“Dentistry in Northern Ireland continues to experience profound challenges; confronting the treatment needs of an aging dentate population along with pressure for domiciliary care visits, more patients with complex health care needs impacting on oral health, and unacceptable levels of hospital admissions for children with oral health problems.

“Dentists in Northern Ireland are labouring under an antique oral health strategy that's frankly unfit for purpose. Now, more than ever, patients need a dental service which meets their increasingly complex care needs and we look forward to working with partners to ensure that both dentists’ and patients’ needs are fully met.”
