Study day aims to boost dental campaign funds

A fundraising study day has been planned to help boost the campaign to make it easier for dental hygienists and dental therapists to practise.

The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) and the British Association of Dental Therapists (BADT) have united to apply for prescribing exemptions in a bid to broaden dental hygienists’ and dental therapists’ scope of practice for the benefit of their patients.

This will mean that a list of prescription-only medicines will be specified in legislation, empowering dental therapists and dental hygienists to administer or supply them.

But they need funding to achieve this.

An upcoming study day, taking place in Hertfordshire on January 19th, 2018, and open to the whole dental practice team, will consist of a series of presentations on topics ranging from the new eCPD to new technologies. The aim of the day is to enhance learning as well as to raise funds in support of the exemptions campaign.

The speaker line-up includes some of the UK and Ireland’s most respected dental professionals in the field of dental therapy and hygiene.
