Robin Barnes, a Partner at JW Hinks LLP, has spoken to a group of dentistry students about the issues of tax and accountancy in their profession.

Robin was invited to speak at the event, held at Bath’s Royal United Hospital, by the University of Bristol, to help students on their Dental Foundation Training Scheme understand their future financial responsibilities.

During the presentation Robin, an expert in the field of dentistry finance, explained how dentists are taxed and talked to students about the preparation of annual accounts.

Robin also gave students an insight into what managing the accounts of a dental practice involved and talked to them about the importance of working with an accountant.

Speaking after the presentation, Robin said: “I really enjoyed addressing dentistry students who are just starting out in their career and I hope the advice I gave them is useful to them in future.

“Dentistry can be a very stressful profession and the last thing most dentists want to worry about is their accounts, which is why we as a firm handle the accounts of many practices across the UK.”
